Kadriye Bayraktar

Kadriye Bayraktar was born in Istanbul in 1977. She is currently studying at the Department of Art History at Ankara University. Between 2007 and 2013, she received training in tezhip (Islamic illumination) at the Üsküdar Turkish Islamic Arts Course Center. She studied for one year with Harun Yılmaz and five years with Hakan Dağlı, during which she gained extensive practical and technical skills. While advancing professionally in the art of tezhip, she also took “Basic Art Education” to develop her design skills, collaborating with Hakan Dağlı to participate in various competitions, exhibitions, and projects.

In 2015, Bayraktar won first prize at the “7 Hills 7 Arts International Competition” organized by Üsküdar Municipality and the Foundation for Classical Turkish Arts. Embracing the aesthetic of 16th-century tezhip, she produces works with a contemporary perspective and considers tezhip an independent expressive art form.

Starting in 2013, Bayraktar began teaching as a master instructor at the "İSMEK" Üsküdar Turkish Islamic Arts Course Center. Between 2015 and 2019, she served as a master instructor in tezhip at the İSMEK Turkish Islamic Arts Vocational School. From 2019 to 2023, she taught at the Beykoz Municipality BEYSEM Baruthane Art Studio and currently continues to teach tezhip at the Küçükçekmece Municipality Fine Arts Academy.

In 2018, Bayraktar established the Perdah Art Studio, where she continues her work with a group of students. In 2023, she organized the exhibition “Sanat Zamanı” (Time for Art) with this art group.
