Fatma Çevik

Fatma Çevik was born in Istanbul in 1975. She graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Anadolu University. After completing her studies, she turned her interest to the art of tezhip (Islamic illumination). In 2009, she began her tezhip training with the renowned artist Berna Karabulut and continued her education at the Üsküdar Turkish Islamic Arts Course Center from 2010 to 2012 under Karabulut’s guidance. During this time, she deepened her knowledge of the fine details and techniques of tezhip. From 2013 to 2014, she furthered her training at the Üsküdar Bağlarbaşı Turkish Islamic Arts Vocational School, strengthening her expertise in traditional Turkish arts.

Throughout her educational journey, Çevik contributed to various exhibitions, including the İSMEK year-end exhibitions and the Saray-ı Hümayun exhibition organized by İSMEK. Since 2018, she has been part of the artist group at Perdah Art Studio under the mentorship of Kadriye Bayraktar. In this studio, she has engaged in intensive workshop sessions and produced numerous works, significantly enhancing her technical and artistic development.

In 2021, she continued her education at the Beykoz Municipality Baruthane Art Studio with Kadriye Bayraktar. She is still an active member of the artist group at Perdah Art Studio, where she continues her creative process, blending traditional art with a modern perspective.
